💡 Weekly Thought Exercise: The Eisenhower Matrix

This week's thought exercise is inspired by The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.

This week's thought exercise is inspired by The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.

You can see why I think this relates to you. 💡

The author, Stephen Covey, created a matrix to help you figure out which current set of problems are urget and important.

The matrix in inspired, and named after, President Eisenhower who said:

"I have two kinds of problems, the urgent and the important.

The urgent are not important, and the important are never urgent."

This week you're going to use The Eisenhower Matrix to figure out which decisions you need to make and when you need to make them.

Why?

Because there are decisions you need to make today that need your full cognitive focus.

But there are decisions that you need to make in 3 months, 6 months, 12 months, and 2 years from now that create fog in your mind.

Things like:

  • Who will I hire when...

  • What happens if my backend breaks when I have 1,000 customers...

  • Which software am I going to need to switch to when...

These are great questions to know you'll answer eventually. But, they don't need to take up a single minute of mental energy right now.

So, let's get into it.

  • This reflection will take about 10-20 minutes.

  • Let me know how you like the prompt in the poll below

Here's the prompt to copy and paste into Claude.ai (you don't need to add any context):
