🗣️ Minor Adjustments

Use these instructions when you’re building out your own prompt or starting your own conversation with ChatGPT (vs. copy-and-pasting a ThinkWithAI Strategic Prompt directly into ChatGPT).

You can copy-and-paste one set of instructions or several to build your own prompts. Add instructions(s) to the beginning or end of your initial prompt.

Use these instructions when you want ChatGPT to find the hidden risks in your plan:

Point out the biggest risks or blind spots in my approach. What could go wrong that I’m not seeing? How would you adjust the plan to minimize those risks?

Use these instructions when you’re making a decision that you want to see from all angles:

Lay out the best-case scenario, worst-case scenario, and most likely scenario for this decision. What would someone with 10x more experience than me do in this situation?

Use these instructions when you want ChatGPT to challenge conventional wisdom:

Push back on common assumptions about this topic and explore alternative viewpoints. What are some unconventional but effective ways to approach this?

Use these instructions when you want to have a back-and-forth conversation with ChatGPT and you don’t want it to ask you 10+ questions at a time because:

Throughout the conversation, only ask me one question at a time

Use these instructions when you want to have a curated conversation broken down into specific steps that need to get completed before moving forward:

In the first part of the conversation, I want you to… In the second part of the conversation, I want you to… In the third part of the conversation, I want you to… In the fourth part of the conversation, I want you to…

Use these instructions when you want to work through a specific framework:

Based on what you know about my business, help me work through [your context] based on [your chosen framework].

Use these instructions when you want to make sure ChatGPT has the needed data to help you make an informed decision:

Ask me for all of the relevant data you need before we move to the solution part of this conversation.

Use these instructions to turn ChatGPT into a strategic thought partner that pushes back on your assumptions:

Push back on what I’m saying and poke holes in my ideas and strategies.

Use these instructions when ChatGPT gives you a generic, surface level response:

Go 5 levels deep on this.

Use these instructions when you want to check your biases and make sure the correlating data proves that you’re thinking about your business the right way.

For example: Making sure that you’re not looking at a marketing campaign’s success or failure from a bias.

[Your Context]

Ask for data, context, and any type of information that either proves or disproves how I’m thinking about this.

Sometimes your conversations with ChatGPT can feel like they’re never ending.

If you want to have a specific conversation with a start and finish, copy-and-paste this at the end of your next topic of choice conversation.

X can be:

  • “…a summary of what was just discussed.”
  • “…tell me you have everything you need to move on to the next part of the conversation.”
  • “…it looks like you got what you needed from this conversation. Instead of getting into the nitty gritty details, let’s leave it here until you’re ready to get into the details.”

End the conversation by saying [X].

Use these instructions when you want to use a specific mental model to think through a topic:

Use [mental model of your choice] to think through this.

Use these instructions when you want to use a specific mental model to think through a topic:

Use [mental model of your choice] to think through this.

For example:

Use first principles thinking to think through this.

Use these instructions when you want ChatGPT to ask you these specific questions to push your thinking:

Here’s an idea that I have [context].

Challenge me to refine it by ideating with me to answer questions like:

What assumptions are driving this?

What evidence supports it?

What risks or blind spots might I be overlooking?

How could this idea be 10x bigger or more impactful?

Use these instructions when you want to turn ChatGPT into a reflective thought partner:

Based on our previous interactions, show me how you think this plan will fail based on where I have dropped the ball/my focus in the past on ideas and strategies we’ve talked about.

Use these instructions after you’ve just strategized something with AI. Give the new strategy/information a name so AI can easily refer to it in the future.

Let’s call this the [strategy name/information].

In the future, when you want to use this context, use these instructions:

Use the context of the [strategy name/information] for this.

Tell AI to Hold on To An Idea for the Future:

Add this to the end of your conversation to avoid going through the topic/conversation right now, and instead have ChatGPT hold on to it for the future.

[Your Idea]

Don’t work through this with me yet. Just hold on to this for me. In the future, I’ll ask you to bring this up by asking you to give me a list of the ideas we’ve previously talked about.

Use these instructions when you want to think through a topic using a specific person’s outlook.

Give me advice on this as if you were [person].

For example:

Give me advice on this as if you were Naval Ravikant.

Use these instructions when you want to brain dump into ChatGPT and have it help you work through it.

Use these instructions when you want to brain dump into ChatGPT and have it help you work through it.

Be concise and specific with how I can move forward by asking me questions to help me clarify my thinking. Use what you know about my business and the opportunities and ideas I have around it to figure this out.

Use these instructions to simplify the way ChatGPT talks to you to avoid the jargon and get straight to the point.

You can also use these instructions when you’re writing marketing content.
